Horse Whisperer" Watercolor in progress

Here's an update on the "Horse whisperer" in watercolor. I got to work on this a good amount this past weekend. I'm glad I did, because I haven't been able to get to the studio today.
It's been a day of errands and having to bring home my son from school. He's not ill, we just have an issue. So that has kind of thrown a wrench into the mechanics of the day! I did manage to open a business checking account today! I think it's about time! I've only been in business, with the State, I have a Sales Tax number, for about 16 years! ha ha. I got the EIN number too, which will be good to use for Galleries and so on. That's just one more aspect of running a studio as a business.

For the Artists reading this post: The artist needs a good background in business, accounting, keeping proper books and records. Sometimes evening Adult classes are run in your community that cover these aspects. I advise taking a class if you have trouble with this part of being an artist. I took a class on "How to start a business" and it helped tremendously to get me started on my way.

And for those of you who aren't artists, and don't care to run a business, disregard that above post! I have a few artists that like to follow along here and sometimes it's nice to have some tidbits in there for them. I hope you all enjoy the "Horse whisperer" watercolor and I'll get back to you tomorrow.
If you have an image of a child and horse or child and dog that you would like to have painted as a watercolor for the child a day, send it on to me at debflood@debfloodart.com There is no obligation to purchase the painting, but it will be offered for sale to the general public after you've had first refusal.
Thank you,
Debbie
